Big Girl Bike & Big Boy Pedals

We thought Lottie would never get interested in riding a bike.  I don't think she figured out how to pedal a trike or training wheeled bike until she was about 4.  Well, she'd more than made up for it now.  She fell in love with her little green strider bike a while back.  Unfortunately, it got run over and smashed while on vacation : (

While we waited for her new BLUE strider bike to come in the mail, we figured we'd just try her on a real bike (no training wheels) and just see what would happen.  I'll tell you what would happen - she would ride all by herself the very FIRST time!!!  Guess strider bikes really do help with balance?!?  She learned at the basketball courts in our neighborhood, just like Lucas.  He loved helping her get started (now she can do it by herself), and Lydia just watched...
She still takes her strider bike to the BMX track though...

Charlotte can't be the only one doing new bike things.  Lucas got some clip-in pedals and shoes (the experts tell me they're called clipless pedals, but that makes no sense, so I refuse to call them that.  They're shoes that CLIP IN to the pedal?!?)  The first time or two we practiced, it was rough going...  But, then he figured it out.  We're not using them yet for races though.
Like my shoes?

Beating the Heat

Just a few pool pics...  Not Lydia's first swim, but the first one where I took my real camera.  She really like being in the pool.  Splashes, laughs, relaxes...  Not so evident in these pics, but I swear it's true!
What a lunatic!

Mountain Bike Race

Tony & Chris did a grueling 30 mile mountain bike race.  We went to the park that morning and walked to a strategic location hoping to see them ride by.  We saw them after about 15 minutes of waiting - perfect!

Visit with the Corns Family

Carrie, Jason, Becca, & Abby were in town from WA a few weeks ago.  We drove up to Jason's mom's house to see them.  There were awesome water toys and the kids had fun playing while the adults ate/chatted : )
It's hard to believe how big these kids are getting!

Return to Ocean City

We hadn't been to Ocean City since May of 2008.  Pretty sad considering we have a free place to stay down there...  Tony isn't a big fan of it there (too crowded and not a fan of sitting on beaches all day), so me and the kids took a quick overnight trip with Mommom and Pop.  In 31 hours, we had TONS of fun!!!  3 rounds of mini golf, 3 walks up to the beach, boardwalk, rides, and all the necessary foods (pizza, Thrasher's fries, and Dumser's ice cream).  The kids were in heaven!
Lucas seriously ran to EACH hole and would scream something like, "OH MY GOD look at THIS hole!  This one has...."
This was great.  Lucas hit it like 5 times and it bounced back or got stuck in the middle of the path cause it hit bricks.  Eventually, he declares that the hole is way too hard and impossible.
Little sis then gets a hole in one : )  Priceless!
