Aqua shoes...

Ok, so you all probably know what aqua shoes (or water shoes) are... The meshy shoe that kids wear to the beach, or that you wear walking in water with a yucky bottom... Tony invested in a nice pair this year to wear on the boat. They are pretty snazzy looking I must admit. HOWEVER - Tony thinks he can wear them anywhere! He'll put them on to go out to dinner, to the store, or for a walk. I always tell him that he CANNOT wear them out like that! Feel free to text or facebook him to let him know what you think of his fashion choice! Once, I even caught him trying to wear them out in public with a pair of socks. Arggg!

W-H-Y???

We are having SOOOO much fun with Lucas these past few weeks. He has been a good listener and has developed quite the sense of humor... an absolute joy to be around! A couple of days ago, for the first time ever, we told him something and he responded - "why?" Uhhh.... we are not ready for that stage yet. Thought we had another year or so before it started...

Lucas, close the door ---- why?
You can't have a beer ---- why?
We're leaving soon ---- why?

AHHHHH!!!!! But he's so darn cute, you can't help but love him to pieces!

Is it summer?

Tony was off Friday, so we had ourselves a 3 day weekend... Took Lucas to his MyGym class in the morning. In the mail, Lucas got a card from Grammie that he carried around all weekend declaring "Grammie give you this". Then, while Lucas napped, Tony took the boat out for a test drive just to make sure it still floated and all :) In the evening, we grilled some burgers at Mommom and Pop's house and ran around the backyard. Good times!
Saturday morning, Angie's cousin Jeff came over to help Tony do some boat maintenance. Lucas thought he was Uncle Matt! After that, we headed towards DC - planned to stroll around the monument area for a few hours. On the way, we decideded to stop at the DC Navy Yard instead. We got to walk around on a real Navy ship and then went to the Navy museum. It was 90 degrees - a scorcher!
Then, Lucas spent the night with Mommom and Charlotte got to go to her very first baseball game with Mom and Dad. She did great!
Sunday morning we picked Lucas up and headed to the park before it got too hot. Came home and filled up the baby pool where Lucas had a blast splashing and jumping. Capped off the weekend with a BBQ with friends!

Morning with friends

Last Thursday morning we got in the car and made the 45 minute trip to visit with Carrie and Becca. Ang and Carrie got to chat and Lucas and Becca got to play. Poor Becca kept getting her feelings hurt because Lucas wouldn't sit in the pink (that's my boy!) car with her. But, as the pic shows, he insisted on sitting in there by himself all morning. As usual, they played nice together.
Becca still was more than a little interested in Charlotte... always wanting to hold her and kiss her... all good practice for her sister baby Abby who will arrive in less than 2 months.
This afternoon, we hung around the house. Lucas was enthralled by the matchbox cars that Carrie gave him. He played with them for hours... wouldn't even acknowledge us when we spoke to him, but he would share with cars with the cats. Go figure.
We spent a little time outside in the backyard - looking at the pond and admiring the grass Tony just cut.

A few days at once...

Let's see if I can summarize what's been going on the past few days here... Sunday (after spending the night in the tent and really getting only a few hours of sleep) Lucas had no energy in the morning. He already looked like this at only 8:30 a.m. -
Sp, we headed to the park and walked a 3 1/2 mile trail while he sat and stared in his stroller. Charlotte slept in a sling the entire time. In the evening, we went to see Mommom and Pop since they just got back from a trip to NY.

The beginning of the week was really rainy, so we spent some time indoors. Lucas played with his cars a lot...
And helped make a "diaper cake"...
Lottie hung out and watched it all...
Poor Izzy cat had a trip to the vet for some ear/eye issues and now has to wear this contraption...
Tuesday was another nice day, so we hit the park/duck pond after Tony got home...
Driving the "school bus"... He was NOT happy if any other kid came near it!What he did after every single rock he threw into the pond!We barely made it home before a thunderstorm hit, but Lucas LOVED watching it from the front window... Shouting to us about the "lightnor" and "thunderth" out there :) Too cute!

Happy one month birthday Lottie girl!

Hard to believe that Charlotte has already been with us for a month! She sure is growing fast! Here is the obligatory "one month" pic...

Sunny Saturday!

Weather dot com says it's 75 degrees out now, and it feels every bit of it - that sun is strong! We've been busy beavers today... The kiddos got up a bit later than usual (cause they went to bed a little later than normal), we had some breakfast, then picked up a few wheelbarrows of compost from a stranger that Tony found on Craigslist. Lucas was (as usual!) a "help-a-holic"... He HAS to help do everything. Push the wheelbarrow, use the shovel, you name it. And God forbid you don't want his help! Shrieks of "Lucas turn!" or "All by SELF" shall pierce your ears. We ran a few errands before coming home to spend a few hours in the backyard. Tony got some "Spring cleaning" in... staining the wood parts of the patio, putting compost dirt into the soon-to-be-garden (with more "help" from Lucas - he he), and waxing the boat. Lucas was happy running around, riding his tractor, pushing his lawnmower, weeding, and "helping" of course! Charlotte spent her time chilling in her bouncer in a tent, drifting between awake and asleep. Big surprise there! But she has definitely been spending more time awake - she's a big girl now - 1 month old yesterday!

Later in the evening we had some friends over for an impromptu BBQ. Lucas got to stay up hours past his bedtime cause it was so pleasant out and we were having so much fun around the fire pit. Tony and Lucas even spent the night in the tent :) Lucas was super excited about that!

This is Lucas "jellyfishing" like Spongebob - complete with "LaLaLa" singing sound effects!
Charlotte's in there...
