We got to the campground around 3:30 and set up our site. This was our first time camping not at the state park. The campsite was much smaller and closer to other sites, and there were a few crazy party groups nearby... BUT, there was a pier, so instead of putting the boat in and out each day, we could just leave it in the water! That sure was nice!
Friday afternoon, after setting up camp, we took the boat out for a bit and took a swim... Then stopped by our favorite restaurant that we usually go to our 1st night there... After that, we made a fire and played around the campsite. Eventually, Charlotte took a flying leap off a bench nearby and landed on her face! Bloody/swollen lip and bruised nose. That girl... it was all better looking by Sunday, so no worries! And they were so beat by the end of the night, they begged to go lay down in the tent!
Saturday morning, we slept til just after 7, then headed out into town. We had to go to Wal-Mart for some replacement tire parts in case of another emergency, and had some breakfast while we were out. Then, it was out on the boat for most of the day! It was super hot and sunny. We played around at the islands (where Lottie can play on the beach) for a while, then headed to the volleyball courts. Lots of boats out! Forgive the number of pics here, but it was just so much fun and the kids are just too cute :)
We came back around dinner time, and got ice cream. It was great that the campground had a little store for drinks, supplies, and ice cream! So, we ate ice cream while dinner cooked. We're allowed to do that on vacation, in case you were wondering... Then we ate, went on a night boat ride, and sat around the fire until the kids begged to go to bed again!
In the 3 minutes it took to get back to camp, Charlotte looked like this:
So, we did this:
When Char finally got up, we got showers and then got her an ice cream. She seriously is the BEST sharer ever. She shared hers with Lucas, bite for bite...
Then, Lucas decided he HAD to roast marshmallows, but we didn't bring any. So, we told him if he wanted some, he would have to go around and ask other campers for some of theirs... Much to our surprise, he did! He came back with a big bag of jumbo marshmallows! They ate a few, until a gooey one ended up in Lucas' lap...
Then, we went for another nite ride... Back to the state park for a night-time nature trail hike!
By 11 pm, the kids were begging to go to bed again... We slept til 8 Monday morning, then had breakfast, packed up, and headed home... Hope everyone else had an enjoyable Memorial Day! Thanks to all who served!
