A new phase

Charlotte has been less and less content just laying around in her bouncer seat. She's been enjoying sitting in her bumbo seat each day, so I decided to dig out the exersaucer this morning. I know it's early for her to be jumping and really using the toys, but I thought she might like sitting in it with stuff to look at all around. Lucas started sitting in it around 3 months too. So far, it's a hit... with everyone. Lucas thinks it's a new toy for him, and keeps trying to "ride on it".

Laughter :)

Last night Lottie did her first laugh!!! It was super cute... And even more interesting, it was the EXACT same way Lucas did his first laugh. She was in the bathtub and Tony was squeaking a rubber ducky on her belly. Instead of her usual single squeals or smiles, she let out several real chuckles. Unfortunately, the video camera battery died earlier in the day, so I'll have to catch it next time :(

Feet

Aside from Charlotte's big 'ol thighs, she always gets comments on her tiny feet. I hope she either gets skinnier, or her feet grow, cause I don't see those feet supporting her any time soon! We always remember Lucas as being sorta skinny, but having HUGE feet. Poor Lottie is exactly the opposite. I dug up the footprints of Lucas at 3 months, and we made Charlotte some to match.

3 month feet - Lottie on left, Lucas on right... quite a difference!
Lucas 3 month feet in frame, and his 2 year feet on pink paper...

Super Saturday!

The mission: WEAR LUCAS OUT!!!

We had 2 afternoon birthday parties to attend, and the first started when Lucas should have been in the middle of a several hours long nap. So, knowing we'd have to get him to take an early nap, we had to wear him out in the morning. First, we all went for a round of disc golf. Daddy played, Lucas ran and threw frisbees the entire way, and Charlotte hung out in a carrier with Mommy. After golfing, we hit the playground. So far, so good. Next, Daddy and Lucas went to the flea market where Lucas obtained this:
He came home and rode that around for a while... had a little lunch and started getting whiny - a sure sign of fatigue :) So, we read a story and put him down for his nap... Ahhh... about 15 minutes of silence, and then he was up. We tried putting him back down several times, but he was having none of it. So much for that idea. The rest of the day was super fun, but we sure were beat come nighttime!

First, we went to Gus' 6th birthday at MyGym. Lucas' favorite instructor (Ms. Kayla) was there, and at first he was kinda shy because all the kids were so much bigger and were yelling and screaming, but he eventually warmed up.
Charlotte got to do this:
But mostly this:
Then we headed to Becca's 2nd birthday - with a Yo Gabba Gabba theme (luckily Lucas slept a bit in the car). The kids played outside with tons of water stuff. In addition to a few toddlers, there were quite a few little babies there too - all younger than Charlotte - and boy did they make her look ginormous. Poor girl got several comments about her thunder thighs!

The birthday girl
Becca's baby sis Abby-2 weeks old (so funny - she weighs about 9.5 lbs and looks soooo tiny. I already can't fathom that Charlotte was ever that small, even though she was 7.5 at birth!)

Crazy hair

What girl wouldn't...

die for eyelashes like these?!? The ladies will be chasing after him some day ;P
ps. - it's Lucas' eye (adding this after a couple people thought it was Charlotte)

Father's Day

Hope everyone had a nice Father's Day! We got up and went to a pick-your-own farm, where we picked blueberries and raspberries. Ang had never been to one and had been obsessing about it for awhile :) It was the perfect morning for it - breezy and cloudy! Lucas did a great job picking blueberries, but by the time we got to the raspberry fields, all he wanted to do was cram them in his mouth by the handful...
After fruit picking, we headed to Nan and Pop's pool. Almost the whole family was there. Lucas and Lily got in the water even though it was REALLY chilly. The visit was cut short though, as the kiddos were a tad on the cranky side. Poor Tony got to cart 2 screaming children out to the car while Ang scurried around collecting all our belongings. Happy Father's Day T!!!
Hope all you dads had a good day!

3 months already?!?

How can Lottie be 3 months old already? The other day, I came by the outfit she came home from the hospital in - which was huge on her then. Now, it barely goes to her knees! But she still has the tiniest feet...
Charlotte still adores her big bro, and can often be found sucking her thumb - always the left one (maybe she'll be a lefty?) She still enjoys being in her bouncer and is finding the playmat more fun now. She's starting to notice that she has legs, and likes to splash around in the tub - now that she's out of the newborn sling. She can sit in the bumbo seat for a little bit before she starts to fall over.
Charlotte has the biggest smile and has been squealing a lot when she's happy... these squeals sure are girly-sounding. Noises that high-pitched never came out of Lucas!

She's eating well, as you can see by her chubby cheeks. And I won't complain about her sleeping either. She tends to go to bed between 7 and 7:30 and sleep for 7-8 hours. After a feeding, she sleeps about 3 hours more, gets fed again, and back to sleep for a couple more hours. This week, I found the mobile that I had intended to put in Lucas' nursery a couple years ago... But, it didn't work with his crib. I was about to chuck it in the Goodwill pile, but then decided to see if I could finagle it somehow onto Lottie's "crib" - it worked and she loves it! I feel bad, cause she really didn't get a nursery made for her. Lucas is still in his nursery and we have his big-boy room all ready in the other upstairs bedroom. No hurry to move him into there yet - he naps for 2-3 hours each afternoon and sleeps 11-12 hour nights. So, when he does eventually move, Lottie will get his nursery. For now, she's in a corner-nook of his future room. She's in a pack-n-play... I have some girly stuffed animals around to make it more girly, but I was really glad the mobile worked in there!
Charlotte loves being outside and prefers to be in a front carrier now instead of the sling. However, she has been protesting (loudly!) our recent car rides.

The newest addition

We had 2 indoor cats - the black one (Pablo) and the white one (Izzy). Izzy had been battling all sorts of medical ailments for the past few months and last week up and ran away (very unlike her, and we guess she ran off to die...so sad!) Well, Pablo needed a kitty friend, and Lucas loves animals... so we made a trip to the local animal shelter and picked us out a new family member!

As of now, she doesn't have a name. We keep asking Lucas what he wants to name her and he replies, "hey, pretty girl". The 2 possibilities seem to be Oreo (favored by us) and Gary (Lucas' fav - a snail on Spongebob that meows like a cat).

She's super soft and loves attention. Actually, it's semi-annoying... She follows us everywhere and is up in our faces 24/7 wanting to be loved. But she's great with the kids and they love her. Lucas spends hours following her, petting her, dangling cat toys in front of her... I think she has even more fun than he does! Proof is in the pics:
