So, Lucas and I will be making another trip to see Dr. Dennis (the hand surgeon) this afternoon. And nope, it has nothing to do with the almost-cut-the-finger-off incident of early July... We've got a brand new boo boo... Saturday evening the neighbors were coming over for dinner... So, Tony was grilling and we set up the moonbounce for the kiddos to frolic in. They were super content, so I decided to run to the store while Tony watched them. As soon as I got there, Tony called to tell me to come home - he thought Lucas broke his finger. This is what I saw when I got back:
Instead of heading to the ER, I tried one of those "Righttime Pediatric" places... hadn't been there since I was a kid. They could see us in 30 minutes, and they do on-site x-rays. We ended up being there for just over 2 hrs... got x-rays which showed dislocation and a broken off bone tip in lowest pinky bone closest to hand...
They had to give him needles to numb the finger during the re-setting, and that's the only time he cried. They actually called in a doc from home to re-set it... turns out he was trained by Dr. Dennis the hand surgeon! Now, this is his get-up for the next couple of weeks - a cast that goes halfway around his hand and halfway up his arm, with a bandage over it. In the 2nd pic, you can see the index finger that he tried chopping off last month. Looks great... no scarring at all on the finger skin, and the nail is growing out nicely!
No swimming for a while... or bike riding... but he doesn't seem phased by it at all... Such a boy!
