Zoo Sunday

Last Sunday, Tony's sister was back in town (well, in DC) for more work training. We pick her up from the airport Sunday morning, went to the DC Zoo for a little bit, had some lunch, and then dropped her off at the hotel. Not many pics taken, but it was great seeing her again! Lucas LOVES him some Aunt Tre!!!

Sick day

On Wednesday at daycare, Lucas was coughing a lot... and the croup kind of cough :( Made a dr appointment for Thursday morning and called out of work. Wouldn't you know, the stinker didn't cough any more after that. But just to be sure, I took him to the dr anyway... They couldn't say that anything was definitely wrong with him either. He certainly didn't seem sick at the playground!

Watch out - we have another walker!

For you tech-un-savvy people out there, click on the arrow at the bottom left of above box to play the video clip of some of Charlotte's first steps!

For a while now, Charlotte has absolutely refused to walk. She can stand on her own, and will often go from sitting to standing up in the middle of the room. Then she looks around and sits back down to crawl, usually after uttering a few whimpers. She would also let go of our leg, a table, etc. and take just one step to get to another leg, chair, etc. But never more than that one step.

Wednesday, Tony picked the kids up from daycare and said that Charlotte took 2-3 steps towards him. I said I'd believe it when I saw it myself :) The rest of the night... no steps.

Thursday, I was home to take Lucas to the dr for essentially no reason - must have been FATE! April 22 was the day she decided to walk! In the morning, multiple times she took 3-4 steps before falling. Every time I grabbed the video camera, she acted like she couldn't even stand up. After naps, we were out back playing and she was doing even more steps. I managed to catch a little clip (not her best effort, but better than nothing). Notice how she will fall, bang her head, and act like it never happened...

After walking a bit, she rode around on Lucas' tractor.
Typical CRAZY Lottie moment: Next thing we know, she has both hands on the handlebars and manages to get BOTH feet up under her to try to stand on the seat. Guess she figured if she could take 5 steps, she was ready to take over as the next Evil Kneivel - crazy girl. We're gonna have to watch that one!!!

We are the champions, we are the champions...

we are the champions... of the WORLD! Ok, not of the world, but of the Ft. Meade Wednesday Nite Mixed league :) We got an awesome magnet as proof:
Don't even think about swiping it if you come over either...

Dirty girl

Charlotte LOVES LOVES LOVES to play outside... She crawls in the grass, digs with her fingers, pulls flowers, and adores the dirt/mud. Last weekend we spent some time outside. She was all over the place, doing things Lucas would've never dreamed of. I think she went thru 4 outfits! I forsee lots of laundry in my future this summer :) And Tony will have quite the yard "helper"...

Tuckered out

Lucas never falls asleep in the car anymore, but he did TWICE last weekend... On the way home from the party, and again the next morning on the way to the park! Check him out:

Gracias!

Lucas opened his gifts the night of the party. Lottie did hers the next afternoon... She wasn't too big into the whole thing, but we managed to snap a few shots of her. Thanks everyone :)

Fiesta, Fiesta

Last weekend Tony's parents were in town for the big birthday bash on Saturday. We rented a pavilion at Patapsco State Park and had a 3-way celebration to celebrate Lottie's 1st birthday and Lucas and Lily's 3rd birthdays... We got there early to set up and it was pretty chilly and windy. Baby Nathan was a good sport - he slept in the car for 2 hours :) The theme was "Madagascar"/jungle animaly. I drew big pics of all the characters from the movie... We had green streamers like "jungle grass"... We played "pin the beak on the penguin" and had a pinata. Of course, the big hit was the moonbounce :) No surprise there! Once the sun got above the trees, it warmed up nicely... The party went for close to 5 hours, and by the end even the big kiddos were pooped. What a fantastic day!!!!!
