Bad blogger

Sorry we haven't updated in almost 2 weeks - the horror! We've been up to a few things... Last weekend Lucas and Lottie went to Kirsten's 8th birthday party at a local gymnastics center. Lucas really wasn't into the "group activities" that were planned out and led by a gymnastics center employee... I can't blame him - 15 8 year olds might scare me a bit too. So, he did his own thing with Lottie, Rachel, and another little guy. It was cute seeing Lottie toddle around and climb on the equipment. The foam pit brought back memories of my own gymnastics days :)

What we've been up to...

We've had 2 weekends and a workweek go by since our last post. Feels like we've been busy! Nothing too monumental, but here's a peek at what's been going on:

Charlotte has been looking mighty bigger than usual... Just for kicks, I even tried her 18 month clothes on her - and much to my surprise, they fit :(
We've been to downtown Baltimore to eat/wander
We took the kids to the bowling alley for the first time in quite a while
A stop by Chic-fil-A - and yes that is maniac Lottie climbing all the way up the slide...
A lot of outdoor play
Some baking
A crazy Yo Gabba Gabba toothbrush that sings (way too loudly) "There's a party in my tummy"
Lucas figured out how to do 12 piece puzzles all by himself
Tony helped a neighbor take down part of a tree. Can you find him in the middle of the trees?
We got Lottie a big girl bunk bed very similar to Lucas'. Here are some of the shelves on one side. Can you spot the non-toy?
We had a backyard campout Friday night. Some glo-stick fun, a fire, and shivering in a tent all night. Also, poor Pablo (who deemed himself an outdoor cat about 7 weeks ago) got bit by something and the wound got infected. He had surgery Friday and is laid up in the basement for a bit :(

Check back real soon - I hope to get some more videos up!

Zoo Sunday

Last Sunday, Tony's sister was back in town (well, in DC) for more work training. We pick her up from the airport Sunday morning, went to the DC Zoo for a little bit, had some lunch, and then dropped her off at the hotel. Not many pics taken, but it was great seeing her again! Lucas LOVES him some Aunt Tre!!!

Sick day

On Wednesday at daycare, Lucas was coughing a lot... and the croup kind of cough :( Made a dr appointment for Thursday morning and called out of work. Wouldn't you know, the stinker didn't cough any more after that. But just to be sure, I took him to the dr anyway... They couldn't say that anything was definitely wrong with him either. He certainly didn't seem sick at the playground!

Watch out - we have another walker!

For you tech-un-savvy people out there, click on the arrow at the bottom left of above box to play the video clip of some of Charlotte's first steps!

For a while now, Charlotte has absolutely refused to walk. She can stand on her own, and will often go from sitting to standing up in the middle of the room. Then she looks around and sits back down to crawl, usually after uttering a few whimpers. She would also let go of our leg, a table, etc. and take just one step to get to another leg, chair, etc. But never more than that one step.

Wednesday, Tony picked the kids up from daycare and said that Charlotte took 2-3 steps towards him. I said I'd believe it when I saw it myself :) The rest of the night... no steps.

Thursday, I was home to take Lucas to the dr for essentially no reason - must have been FATE! April 22 was the day she decided to walk! In the morning, multiple times she took 3-4 steps before falling. Every time I grabbed the video camera, she acted like she couldn't even stand up. After naps, we were out back playing and she was doing even more steps. I managed to catch a little clip (not her best effort, but better than nothing). Notice how she will fall, bang her head, and act like it never happened...

After walking a bit, she rode around on Lucas' tractor.
Typical CRAZY Lottie moment: Next thing we know, she has both hands on the handlebars and manages to get BOTH feet up under her to try to stand on the seat. Guess she figured if she could take 5 steps, she was ready to take over as the next Evil Kneivel - crazy girl. We're gonna have to watch that one!!!

We are the champions, we are the champions...

we are the champions... of the WORLD! Ok, not of the world, but of the Ft. Meade Wednesday Nite Mixed league :) We got an awesome magnet as proof:
Don't even think about swiping it if you come over either...
