Keuka Lake

After getting home from Raystown Sunday afternoon - 7/31 - it was time to unpack, do laundry, and re-pack. Monday morning Tony went to work, and I took the kids (left at 5:30 a.m.) to Mom & Dad's lake house for a few days.

I was a bit nervous about the drive... Not about if I would get lost or handle it ok, but about how the kids would behave. When Tony drives, they seem to want constant attention from me in the passenger seat. Hand me ____, can I have ____, whine whine whine... BUT, it was amazing! There was NO trouble at all. I put a basket of toys between them and they played themselves for the majority of the trip. They didn't even ask for one snack! For about 2 hours, we drove through low-lying clouds. It was really neat, especially when the clouds were red!
We got there in just under 6 hours, including our one potty break. We had lunch, and headed right to the lake for a swim. Mommom & Pop's neighbors were kind enough to let us use their dock/lakefront area...
After playing, the kids were ready for a snack on the deck...
Later on, we went out for dinner and ice cream at Seneca Farms. Lottie continued her tradition of "eat everyone else's ice cream"...
With a long day and no nap, Lottie fell asleep on the 3 minute drive home and I let her sleep a bit on the swing...
The kids slept well Monday night! Even though there were plenty of beds available, they wanted to sleep in the same twin bed... With their heads at opposite ends. Whatever works!

Tuesday morning, I did a 4.5 ish mile run... The first exercise in over a week! Ahhh!!! It felt pretty good. Then, we went blueberry picking!
All these organic blueberries for $5!!!
We went home, packed a lunch and the kayaks, and went to the park for a while...
After the kids took naps, we went up the street to the Go Kart place... I was much more adventurous in my driving than last year, though poor Pop got stuck behind a 9 yr old kid that he didn't want to pass and scare!
Spent the rest of the night porch playing!
Wednesday morning we headed out to Watkins Glen State Park to hike the Gorge Trail. Hadn't done that since Charlotte was about 2.5 months old. It took almost 2.5 hours and was a nice workout. Especially nice since it was overcast and pretty cool...
While the kids were taking a much-needed nap, Mommom stayed with the kids while me and Dad went out for some wine tastings! That was my first time doing that up there and it was fun! Went to 4 wineries and got a bottle from each to bring home to share with Tony...When we got back 3.5 hours later, the kids were STILL in bed!!!
Spent the evening playing/relaxing on the porch, and then had more ice cream before bed...

Thursday morning was full on more porch play... then we headed back to the park to fish/kayak for a bit... Lucas can totally paddle the kayak by himself!
Back to the house for a little while... I didn't let the kids take naps, as we were leaving around dinnertime and I wanted work out kids for the drive back :)
Lucas loved showing off all his jewels that he panned while at Raystown!
Char was happy to sit and read out loud to herself...
After an early pizza dinner, we got in the car to head home. Kids slept the first 2 hours! And were angels AGAIN for the entire drive!!! LOVED it!!! We had a great time in NY with Mommom & Pop, but it was nice to get home again to see Tony :) And we made it in just over 5 hours - no stops... Getting home around 9:15 p.m.

Just a pretty shot of the Susquehanna:
