Another Weekend At Lake Anna

Mid-September, I had a Monday off of school for Rosh Hashanah.  We went to Lake Anna with Tony's friend from high school, Sil, and her hubby, Mike.  They rented a house (the same one we stayed at 2 summers ago) and brought their boat.  It was kinda weird to just show up somewhere with just our clothes.

We left Friday after work.  Spent the evening just settling in and having dinner...  After contemplating several restaurants and finally deciding on one, we got there to find it closed and for sale!  So, we ended up eating Chinese.  But, it was yummy and the company was good :)

Saturday morning, we had to get up early to head to Richmond for the "Color Run".  It's a 5k where everyone wears as much white as possible, and at 5 points along the course, "paint" is thrown on you.  The paint is really like colored powder.  It stays on skin, clothes, and hair, but easily washes off.  Mike and Sil took us all in their car with leather seats, so we didn't have to worry about getting ours messy!  And we went in style too...  Sil had team shirts made for us all.  The front said "hue happens" and had a space for the race bibs.  The back said "color fools" and "L & W crew" for our last names.  We got other T-shirts from the actual race, and some sunglasses, bracelets, and headbands.  Here are Lucas & Char ready to go:
There were TONS of people there... all ages.  Lucas and Charlotte were so excited to be in a RACE!
I honestly didn't think we'd run too much.  We started out strong...  Little Lottie was just pumping those arms and making about 4 strides to every one of ours.  Too cute!  When one of the little ones got tired, we just slowed down for a bit (or later, Tony carried Charlotte).
Scenes along the way...  Warning - Lucas totally looks like a little Richard Simmons in some of these pics!  HA!!!!!
Along the way, Lucas became quite whiny.  He would whine for a few minutes, saying "How much further?", "Why did we have to do this?", "When can I have snacks?", etc.  Then, in the next breath, he'd exclaim "This is SO much fun!".  Uhhh...  multiple personalities?  As we approached the finish line, we kicked it in gear.  Lucas and I were ahead of everyone else, and therefore Lucas got to brag ALL DAY that he was #1.  Lottie was right behind us, and put on quite the show.  She swung those arms and RAN all the way to the finish.  People on the sides were cheering her on!
At the end, there was a band and they give everyone "color packets" do dump on each other/throw up in the air, etc.  Here's us looking messy:
A once in a lifetime experience for sure!  And certainly the last time I run outside while pregnant (I'll stick to my elliptical)...  My back was killing me for about 2 weeks afterwards.

After the drive back, Char had some Gatorade in a wine glass, then we headed out in the boat.  Char fell asleep and Lucas kept an eye on Tony driving someone else's boat!
After that, Tony tried his hand at water-skiing.  It had been quite a while, as our skiis broke over a year ago.
Then, we anchored out and did some swimming.  I won Mommy of the year award by forgetting Lottie's bathing suit...  So, she wore undies!
Next, we went to our favorite restaurant on the water... Ate, hula hooped, and went to the state park to play...
We took 4 group shots... This is seriously the best one...  Which says something about how bad the rest are!
Sunday morning, Mike got out his training skis and Lucas became determined and eager to water ski.  He practiced all morning in the living room and couldn't wait to get out there and go first.
Once out on the boat, he was still eager to go.  So, Tony got him in the water and hopped in to assist.  As you can see below, his smile quickly turned to a frown when he realized he was REALLY going to have to do this.
He got up on the very first try (and every try after!)...  It was awesome.  He rode for about 7 seconds each time before just kinda falling backwards from leaning back too far.  We were all so proud!
Tony tried his hand next at wakeboarding for the first time.  After one miss at getting up, he did great!
Then we anchored at an island a bit to hang out/swim.  It was great - I didn't get in the water at all this day.  And I wore pants and a sweatshirt the entire time... I was so comfy - so different from our normal HOT boat days in the middle of summer!
Then, we got some ice cream and stopped at a few other places around the lake before heading back to the cabin to make a delicious shrimp/scallop alfredo pasta.  Yum!!!
What a great weekend!
