Early Halloween?

As we all know, Tony LOVES Halloween!  We were really busy earlier this month, so the decorations didn't make it up on Oct. 1 like usual.  In fact, they didn't make it up until about the 19-20.  Of course, Tony added a little more and a little more each day for the next week of so.  Near the end, this is what the front yard/driveway looked like:

For the past few years, we've had a kids Halloween party too.  We scheduled it for Sunday Oct. 28 in the evening.  The Ravens had a bye, so all should have been perfect.  We sent invitations, people RSVPd...  And then - BOOM!  Hurricane Sandy started to head our way.  Looked like Saturday the 27 was going to be the last normal day we'd have for a while.  So, we sent updated invitations and hoped for the best.

We got the kids' costumes a few days before.  Charlotte had been saying for months that she wanted to be a skeleton or a superhero.  At the store, she fell in love with a Captain America suit with built in muscles!  I think it's freakin' adorable.  Lucas said for 6 months that he was going to be the "scary guy from the Scream movie".  He was super psyched until one of the neighbors put on their old Scream costume the week before and came outside in it.  Lucas ran down the street in fear and wouldn't come back until the costume was gone.  Needless to say, he didn't want to be that anymore.  He easily changed his mind to a Transformer.
Saturday was beautiful out and we ended up with about 25 people at the party.  Kept the food simple, the decor was already done, and squeezed in 2 games for the kids (pin the nose on the pumpkin and a version of musical chairs).  I always have more planned, but the kids are just so content running around together like maniacs :)

Here are some pics of the evening.  Notice how terrible the night pics are?   My camera just doesn't take those at all...  hint hint to anyone looking for Christmas ideas for me!
After a late night Friday, no nap and then a party Saturday... as soon as everyone left, Lucas promptly fell asleep on the sofa.
Hope all the kids had fun!  We told ours it may be the only Halloween they get this year, so they'd better enjoy it!!!
